Problems with vmrun no opening IE to correct URL -- Need Help!!!!

I have ran into a issue when I try to open up IE8 from on my Windows7 virtual machine from my Mac terminal.  I am able to open up IE8 just fine; but the problem is when I try navigate to any particular URL like www.google.com.  For some reason the vmrun command adds double quotes around my URL and therefore prevents the page from loading.  I really need help with figuring this out.  This community is my last resort as I have already paid for tech support and they just directed me here.

Here are the steps to reproduce:

  1.  I have using Fusion 5.0.4 running on my mac book pro.

  2.  I have Download Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image  from Official Microsoft Download Center.

  3.  I downloaded the Windows_7_IE8.part01.exe, Windows_7_IE8.part02.rar, Windows_7_IE8.part03.rar, and Windows_7_IE8.part04.rar

  4.  I used a windows laptop to run the exe and create the Win7_IE8.vhd and Win7_IE8.vmc files.

  5.  I copied these files to my mac book pro.

  6.  I imported the Win7_IE8.vhd file into Fusion; which created the Win7_IE8.vmdk file.

  7.  I created a new virtual machine with the newly created Win7_IE8.vmdk file by making a separate copy of the virtual disk.

  8.  Start the Win7_IE8 vm and login as IEUser.  The password is "Password1".

  9.  I installed the VMWare Tools.

10.  I ran the following command from my mac book pro terminal:

"/Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmrun" -T fusion -gu IEUser -gp Password1 runProgramInGuest /Users/pouncilt/documents/"Virtual Machines.localized/Win7_IE8.vmwarevm/Win7_IE8.vmx" -activeWindow -interactive "C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe" http://www.google.com

11.  I get the following URL in the IE8 browser:http://%22http//www.google.com%22

However it all works fine, if I take the following steps from inside the Win7_IE8 virtual machine:

1.  Click on Start menu button.

2.  Type cmd in the search window.

3.  Type "C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe" www.google.com in the command DOS command prompt.

4.  I get the following URL in the IE8 browser:http//www.google.com; which is what I want.

I even tried to use the runScriptInGuest but that didn't even start the IE browser.  Here is the command I tried:

"/Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/"vmrun -T fusion -gu IEUser -gp Password1 runScriptInGuest /Users/pouncilt/documents/"Virtual Machines.localized"/Win7_IE8.vmwarevm/Win7_IE8.vmx "" "cmd.exe /c \"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\" www.google.com"

I hope some of the good folks from the vmware team that support the vmrun tool would help with this issue.

Any help from the community is greatly appreciated.
