I cannot get it to install in VMware workstation. I included a screenshot of the error in the doc here. It states "Detect and mount CD-ROM" "The CD-ROM does not seem to contain a valid 'Release' file, or that file could not be read correctly."
Did you validate the SHA1 checksum of the ISO Image you downloaded against its published SHA1SUMS?
Have you tried using Legacy Emulation? Have a look at: Configure Legacy Emulation Mode for a DVD or CD-ROM Drive
Are you aware there is a Kali Linux VMware Image (i386-pae) available? (11-Mar-2013 21:46 3.0G) (Or as a Torrent: kali-linux-1.0-i386-gnome-vm.tar.gz.torrent)

What version VMware Workstation?
Exact name of the Kali Linux Image you downloaded?
Did you validate its SHA1 checksum?
BTW When attaching screen shots it's preferred they be in a format that can be easily and directly opened in the Browser, e.g. .png, .jpg, .gif, .pdf or .tiff, not an MS Word Document type (.doc, .docx, .rtf)!
