Currently planning to enhance our Server setup and make it more robust,
Basically we have 2 Hosts, require 2 Windows Server2008 VM's and a few other "management" type VM's Utilising vCentre appliance.
This setup has a low load but needs high availability - having the system up is far more important than having a extensive backup setup.
We can handle a reasonable amount of data loss but the servers need to keep running or recover quickly.
See attached plan but what we are planning is basically
NFS storage at primary site for all VM data
2 Hosts sharing workload with vMotion/HA available
1 Host on remote site with local Datastore
Use VSphere Replication to replicate the VM's from the NFS store to the 3 local Datastores.
Use VM Data Protection to backup the NFS store to another NFS store.
We will effectively have 3 hosts all with a replica copy of every VM on the local store. Providing for loss of 2 hosts plus the NFS store and still being able to quickly restore production.
Ideas on if this will work OK or better ideas/things to consider would be greatly appreciated!
