vCOPS and normal login intervals?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have vCenter 5.1 and vcops 5.0.1 hooked into it.

I can see the service account that we created for vcops is appearing VERY FREQUENTLY in the vCenter logs.. At a last count 25000 odd logins in the last 24hours. (Yes, 18 per minute)

Can someone please advise if that is normal? What should the normal login count be? Is this a known bug? Or something to do with the polling period?
