Use this kb article for changing the datatype to bigint. Please note this is the procedure and not the exact resolution. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1030819 Also yes you might need to upgrade to SP4 before moving to the next version.. it wont corrupt your db, but the upgrade will fail.
